EEG Follow Up

Jacob's medication was increased but his EEG did not show Infantile Spasms. Crisis averted. We will go back in April for another check up. Jacob is now receiving speech therapy and he likely will participate in Constraint Therapy again in August. Intervention is a wonderful thing.

Jacob's Wheels

Hmmm. I wonder what would happen if we
attached a snow plow. He is his father's son.

Wednesday

Sorry to keep everyone in suspense. Jacob's doctor's appointment went well. His medication was increased and his pediatric neurologist felt that his EEG next Wednesday will either show a crazy pattern simply because of the structure of Jacob's brain or it may show the beginning of Infantile Spasms. He said that Jacob is not showing any sign of the Spasms otherwise. So basically, he may be clear of them or we are way ahead of them. His other seizures are to be expected because they come from areas of his brain that were damaged from his stroke. The doctor said that these areas are not functional so the seizures are not causing any further brain damage. We have to work towards controlling these seizures with medication...

Monday

Tomorrow morning we will take Jacob to see his pediatric neurologist. Jacob has not yet responded to his new medication but we may have to wait for his EEG next week before changing course.

Jacob went to the Zoo on Saturday and had a great time at Morton Park yesterday with his brother Matthew and his Grandma and Grandpa and then visited with his Nana, Uncle Anthony, Auntie Kate, and cousins Benjamin and Sebastian.

Early Intervention OT

Jacob is "commando crawling" in this clip.
Before constraint therapy, he would tolerate
being on his belly for only short periods of
time and would never reach out with his
right hand to pull himself forward.

Monday Morning

My husband Matt returns to work today after a month home with Jacob and Jacob returns to Poppi's house for the day with his brother Matthew. This month, Jacob will resume his occupational and physical therapy through Looking Upwards, his Early Intervention provider. He will have a speech evaluation some time this month and will go back to see his pediatric neurologist next Tuesday and again on the 17th for his follow-up EEG. We will continue to post video of Jacob's progress as he always is in a stage of growth and development. He continues to use his right hand although he favors his left hand as expected. We will receive an exercise program for him from Hasbro Children's Rehabilitation Department to maintain his use of his right arm and hand...
